DESCRIPTION:2020 Traditional Christmas Parade\n\nJoin us for "Christmas at the Movies" kind of Christmas in historic Downtown \nANNOUNCEMENT UPDATE: The Chamber Board of Directors has decided to keep the Christmas Parade in the traditional format.\n\nAs in year's past the public will gather in along the parade route and watch decorated floats and cars pass by. Everyone is encouraged to continue to practice social distancing and remain in your family unit of less than 10.\n\nThe Chamber will abide by CDC guidelines for a safe event.\n\nThere will not be vendors on the square this year.\n\nThank you to our Christmas Parade Chair\, Micah Holcombe along with her committee\, Lyndi Sanders\, Garry Karber\, and Craig Arnold\n\nAlso a huge Thank you to City of Cameron Street Department for hanging our signs and street banners and to EBCO Development for putting up our beautiful Christmas Tree on the Square! \n\nAlso THANK YOU! Cameron Herald\, C&W Auto & Towing\, Cameron Autoplex\n\n(Please read all the Rules and Guidelines BELOW before registering)\n\nCLICK HERE Download Rules and Guidelines\n\n \n\nRules and Guidelines for Float Participants at 2020 Drive Thru Christmas Parade\n\nOur first priority is to have a SAFE PARADE!\n\nPARADE DATE: Thursday\, December 3\, 2020\n\nPARADE TIME: Please arrive at 5:30 p.m. ALL entries must be in place by 6:00 p.m.\,\n\nParade Begins 6:30 p.m.\n\n Updated 11.12.20\n\n \n\nPARADE ROUTE NOW WILL BE TRADITIONAL AS IN YEARS PAST: We are encouraging the public to continue to practice social distancing also please make sure that you keep on-float participants at 10 or less people. \n\nAs in year's past the public will gather in along the parade route and watch decorated floats and cars pass by. Everyone is encouraged to continue to practice social distancing and remain in your family unit of less than 10. The Chamber will abide by CDC guidelines for a safe event. There will not be vendors on the square this year.\n\n **Marching/performance groups will be the same format as years past.\n\nTHEME: Christmas at the Movies\n\nAll units must reflect a holiday theme\, or the theme chosen by the Parade Committee. Marching Bands\, individuals and groups are encouraged to represent this theme with their costumes\, vehicles\, and floats.\n\nDEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: Applications are accepted on a first come first serve basis and must be submitted to the Chamber Office by Monday\, NOVEMBER 23 @ 4:00 PM\n\nFLOAT JUDGING: Floats that wish to be judged\, will be judged during the parade. Judges will be in a stationary spot on the parade route. Entries will be judged as they pass by the booth. If you do wish to be judged\, please indicate this on your application.\n\nFloats in competition will be judged on three equal criteria: 1.) outstanding accomplishment\, 2.) creativity\, 3.) originality in projecting the parade theme. It is not required that your entry be judged. Judges are appointed by the Christmas Parade Committee. All decisions are final and may not be challenged.\n\nFLOAT AWARDS: A total of 10 awards will be given to entries based on the parade theme in each category as follows:\n\n1stPlace Plaque\n\n2nd Place Plaque\n\n3rd Place Plaque\n\nRAIN DATES: Should poor weather conditions force postponement of the parade\, alternate dates will be established. Participants are asked to check the Cameron Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page after 12pm the day of the parade for information on the parade and possible cancellations and rain-out dates. \n\nGENERAL PARADE REGULATIONS:\n\nThe following items must be submitted for your application to be considered for participation.\n\n1. Completed online application form submitted by Monday\, NOVEMBER 23 @ 4:00 PM\n\n2. Completed paper application submitted to Cameron Chamber of Commerce office 102 East 1st Cameron\, Tx 76520 or emailed to adminasst.chamber@cameron-tx.com. by Monday\, NOVEMBER 23 @ 4:00 PM\n\nACCEPTANCE: No individual or unit will be allowed to take part in the parade without prior approval of the Parade Committee. Your acceptance into the parade is based upon your completed application. The committee reserves the right to dismiss your unit from the parade route if it differs greatly from the original description in the application.\n\n NO LIVE SANTA CLAUS OR MRS. CLAUS will be allowed on any float except the Chambers. Any group violating this rule will be removed immediately. NO EXCEPTIONS. Santa hats are permissible.\n\nNEW RULE 2020!!!- ABSOLUTELY NO candy or other enticements will be thrown OR handed out from ANY entry. If you have candy OR enticements to pass out\, please contact the Cameron Chamber office for the proper procedures.\n\nEntries must comply with city\, county and state ordinances and are subject to inspection by city\, county\, or state officials.\n\nMUSIC: All remote broadcasting facilities shall broadcast only Christmas music at reasonable levels.\n\nDISPLAY OF NAME & NUMBER: The parade number must be visible to ensure the judges can identify your float and announce your information. Please display your number in the FRONT so the judges can identify you. You will receive your number during setup/lineup. A list of the lineup numbers and map will be posted the week before the parade by the Chamber.\n\nALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: The use of alcoholic beverages or illegal substances is strictly prohibited before and during the parade. Violators will be prosecuted.\n\nLINE UP ORDER: Line up order/position is determined by the parade committee to establish variety and to ensure even flow and variety of the parade. Adequate description including the LENGTH of your group/float is important on the application to help determine placement and to allow enough room for you to set up. A list of the lineup numbers and map will be posted the week before the parade by the Chamber.\n\nASSEMBLY TIME: Please be PROMPT! Please arrive at 5:30pm. ALL entries must be in place by 6:00 p.m.\, Thursday\, December 3\, 2020. NO EXCEPTIONS. This rule is for safety-we do not want to risk anyone's safety by having large entries still driving around.\n\nFLOATS AND VEHICLES: Floats and vehicles must display Christmas lights. Entries should reflect Holiday theme.\n\nDrivers of all vehicles in the parade areas must possess a valid driver's license\, be at least 18 years old\, and possess all liability vehicle insurance. Drivers are prohibited from using cell phones during the parade.\n\nVehicle headlights must be off or covered.\n\nNo entry shall exceed FORTY FEET (40) in length AND TWELVE FEET (12) wide\, without written permission from the Parade Committee. This length includes the vehicle used to pull the entry. If your entry needs additional space\, please let us know when you turn in your parade entry.\n\nFireproof or fire-resistant materials should be used whenever possible. A fire extinguisher\, Type ABC\, is recommended to be carried by each vehicle. No live flames\, open or enclosed\, will be allowed.\n\nTIP: All floats should have skirts around the lower part of the structure. Floats and/or miscellaneous vehicles must be completely decorated including sides and ends. Vehicles towing floats would be enhanced in appearance if decorated\, but it is not required.\n\n**MARCHING/WALKING AND PERFORMANCE GROUPS: We have decided to revert to the traditional moving parade. Walking groups/performance band groups will be given a position along the parade route\, Only Christmas theme music will be allowed. Participants are encouraged to wear Christmas colors\, costumes\, or at the very least\, wearing a Santa/Elf hat.\n\nSMALL ANIMAL (DOGS\, OTHER PETS):\n\nDogs and other pets may ride on a parade float\, but every animal must be on a leash. These animals must remain in the designated entry spot for the duration of the parade. Each animal must have a designated handler and must be current on all rabies and other vaccinations. \n\n Animal discharge or waste must be removed if waste is made in your line up/set up area. The contact person will be held strictly liable for failure to fulfill your obligation.
